Angelo Maruca was born in Calabria, Italy. In 2003 he moved to Bradford, England — not by design but by circumstance — and began the long process of rebuilding an identity across countries, languages, and careers.
He spent a decade working in UK hospitality — nights, weekends, the invisible hours. Kitchens, bars, dining rooms. The kind of work that strips away theory and leaves only what is real. At the same time, he pursued academic qualifications part-time: a BSc in Psychology, a Level 4 Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, and an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Three qualifications across a decade, built in the margins of a demanding working life.
He has worked as an IT professional, programmer, chef, waiter, carer, sport psychology consultant, police officer, content creator, and author. These are not career pivots. They are different angles on the same question: what does it look like when a person is fully themselves, without the mask?
His authority is not institutional. It is earned through specificity of experience and ruthlessness of observation. He does not create knowledge. He translates what he has witnessed, lived, and understood into forms that reach whoever is ready to receive them.
He is an insider-outsider. Italian by blood, English by adoption. Never fully belonging anywhere — and turning that into a lens rather than a wound. He writes from inside the human condition, not above it. He writes for the reader at a turning point. Because he has been there. And he kept walking.
